Product Testimonials - BBQ Smoker

“ Sams  Smoker Pro"

Sam,
I just want to tell you that it must of been my lucky day when I stumbled into your website . I cant't be any happier than I am with the results of your smoker. I just want to say that it works great ,it's easy to clean and most importantly the food tastes great.

 Sam,
The Smoker Pro is simply awesome! I did a lot of research on smokers. A few months ago my friend beat me to it
and bought the kind I was going to buy. After going over to his house for a BBQ he was constantly fidgeting with the vents to get everything smoking properly. He was so aggravated with the problems that kept popping up that he barely had time to enjoy the ribs and chicken. After the BBQ the paint had already peeled off his smoker after a couple of times cooking. Luckily I stumbled onto the Smoker Pro. I figured that it was very well priced and gave it a try. I was not let down. Very easy to use. Easy to store. And best of all it makes the best food. My kids said it tasted like our vacation in North Carolina where we had the best smoked food last year.

 Sam,
I have to say this is the best smoker I've ever used. I tried all sorts of other contraptions, but this beats them all. Lot's of smoke! I was looking for a smoker when I discovered you and now I have plenty of smoke right on my gas grill without buying a dedicated smoker.
I've only had your smoker for about a week and I've already smoked steaks, chicken, beer-can chicken and as I type this, I have a boston butt being smoked right now for some eastern North Carolina bbq we'll have later tonight. Thanks for a great product. I'll be back to buy a few smokers for my friends as gifts.

PS. Your wood chips are the best!

 Sam,
I am the happy owner of your smoker and the beer can chicken tray. Been doing a lot of cooking this Summer and getting rave reviews. Great Products!

 Dear Sam,
I own a Weber Summit Gold 6 burner Gas Grill and since receiving your smoker and wood chips, every chicken, steak, roast, chop and vegetable we grill gets the smoke treatment while cooking. Your system is the easiest, cleanest, slickest way to add real wood smoke flavor to all our grilled food. The variety of wood you offer gives us a different flavor every time we grill. I'm an old apple and hickory purist, but the mulberry and pear woods have got me reconsidering.
I also own a Brinkman's wood smoker which is a pretty fine product on it's own, but I can use low temperature cooking on my Weber, with your smoker and get the same results with much less hassle.
Thanks for a great product. My next order for more wood chips will be coming soon!

 Sam-Man,
I own a Weber 3 burner Gas Grill and since receiving your smoker and wood chips, I have become an instant BBQ master. My wife use to discourage me from grilling and now wants me to grill every night. In addition, I also own one of the handiest grilling tools made; your scrappy tool. I use it for just about everything and always enjoy looking at the smiley face. Keep up the good work and continue delivering a quality product.

Sam is single-handedly responsible for helping to turn our normal, slow and low world upside down. You see, a few years back, Sam had this little invention called Sam's Smoker Pro™. It is designed to turn your normal gas grill into an all-around gourmet wood fired grill or smoker.... Everyday BBQ Barbecue-BBQrs who think it takes hours to perfect that slab of ribs or Boston Butt. Sam's proved that by using his instrument, these hours turn into minutes with either a light gourmet touch or heavy smoke flavor.

What Author Steven Raichlen Thinks on Smoking Boxes - May 11, 2006
Steven Raichlen has placed The Sam's Smoker Pro™ in his new book: - Ribs Ribs Ribs. On page 36

Dear Mr. Steven Raichlen,
I was wondering your opinion on what was better a cast iron smoker box or a stainless steel one. I would be using it in a Weber Summit 4 burner gas grill. I saw on the internet a product called Sam's Smoker Pro™ but it seemed huge at a size of 10.7"x11.4"x1.8" high I was thinking this takes up one side of the grill...not sure if that is a good idea or not. They do make a smaller version. Not sure if Id go that route or get a normal SS box or cast iron one. I just wondered your thoughts on this topic.
Steve - says Sam's Smoker Pro™ is the best smoker he knows of, and the broad dimensions contribute to its effectiveness. Hope this helps! All good wishes,

Sam,
I just came across your product online and it looked interesting. I had thought about buying a smoker box for my Weber summit grill but wasn't sure if I wanted a cast iron one or stainless steel...or just use aluminum foil. I had sent an email to;
Steven Raichlen of Barbeque University fame and he said yours is the best product out there for smoking on a gas grill....quite a compliment. I'd say. So then I was trying to decide if I wanted the JR or the Pro. I will reach a decision in a day or 2.
Thanks for the response.

Steven Raichlen has placed The Sam's Smoker Pro™ in his new book: Ribs Ribs Ribs.
On page 36 of Ribs Ribs Ribs Steven Raichen writes:

If you are serious about smoking on your gas grill there are ......solutions. ....Buy an accessory called Sam's Smoker Pro™. The device looks like a large, heavy, flat metal candy box, and it fits under the grate directly over the burners. Following the manufacture's instructions, you fill the box with wood chips that have been soaked in water and drained, then you place the box in a preheated grill. The rising smoke subtly flavors the ribs. Because this device has a wide surface area, it's more efficient for smoking than the average smoker box. (see mail-order sources page287).

 Sam,

I used Sam's Smoker to cook the Thanksgiving turkey. I used a Weber gas grill with 3 burners and a rotiserie. I removed the flavorizer bars and set the smoker on the rear burner. I covered the center burner with aluminum foil to keep the drippings from falling into the burner holes.
I slow cooked the turkey using apple wodchips and hickory wood chips. As the turkey cooked and rotated, the juices self basted the turkey.
The turkey was excellent! Everyone agreeded that it was the best tasting turkey they ever ate. My date commented that the turkey was moisture and better tasting than a deep fried turkey.

Hi Sam,

The Smoker Pro is simply awesome!  I did a lot of research on smokers.  A few months ago my friend beat me to it and bought the kind I was going to buy.  After going over to his house for a BBQ he was constantly fidgeting with the vents to get everything smoking properly. Sam

I cooked every meal this weekend with it.  A little sausage, some eggs, tried your smoked salmon recipe along with some vegies, and a full meal on it last night with friends, appetizer to desert.  Last night's meal turned out awesome!  My friends don't grill, they come to my house :) but they were super happy I got it!
I got my Dad a Sam's Smoker Pro last year for Father's Day when he got himself a new Weber Genesis, which I had just also gotten for my self a few months before.  My dad had never really liked gas grills since they don't have the "real bbq" flavor, but got it for the convenience.  I had been throwing wood chips in some aluminum foil on my grill for a few months and it really didn't cut the mustard, so I figured I would get one for my dad and see how it worked.  He loves it, and I hadn't had anything off of it until a few weeks ago, but as soon as I did I talked my wife into getting me one for this Father's Day.

I'm loving it so far.  I didn't do very well with the salmon.  Smoke only lasted for about 20 minutes and I waited to put the salmon on until about 10 minutes into it.  Last night I soaked the wood a little longer and filled that sucker up all the way and it lasted a good hour.  My neighbor and I were both grilling last night.  He stood on the fence and sniffed, said "You get a new smoker?".  So I told him all about it and he is seriously considering this over a Traeger right now.
Thanks again for your help!

 Sam,

I use a private store-brand grill that I bought at Sam’s Club 3-4 nights a week. I grill steak, pork chops, ribs, chicken, lamb chops and fish, and enjoy a little smoke in combination with sauces and marinades. I was trying to smoke cherry and pecan wood chips using a small stainless steel tray purchased at a local grill and patio shop, and it didn’t work too well. I bought your Smoker Pro and what a difference it’s made. From the very first time I used it, the smoke starts quickly and adds a great flavor to the meat. I only wish I had started looking for a smoke box sooner.

 Sam,

My Review or as some would call it testimonial of Sam's Smoker Pro. I am 57 and have been cooking all my life. I have been looking for a smoker for about the last year now and came across Sam's Smoker using a Google search.

I read all He had to say and thought what the heck. After about 2 weeks of use I have ordered another Sam's Smoker along with 2 of the 2 in 1 BBQ Cookware and the Wide Spatula . This Smoker is just great. The flavor that gets into the food is unbelievable. I have not one regret for trying this Smoker. I've used others and was always dissatisfied with the results after a few uses with them.  2 weeks and I've not used it for 2 days. That's how much I like this smoker.

The taste reminds Me of when We all cooked over the campfire in scouting. I just cant say thanks enough for a great product and the best service from Sam's place.

Thanks to all of you at Sam's place for great service.

 Marc Patri from Appleton Wisconsin

 Hi Sam,

I want to let you know that your smoker is working really fine. I've barbecued hamburgers and steaks regularly over the past few weeks and I have gotten rave reviews from my wife and 18-yo daughter about the smoky taste. We haven't had a chance to try out some chicken yet, but I'm sure it will taste just as good.

Since it is just the three of us it is easy to put the meat right over the smoker at first so it gets that great smoky flavor. After a while, I'll move the meat over the actual flame to give it a good char- grill taste as well. What you have designed is really good and I'll mention it to folks we have over for Q.

I want to thank you for not only designing and selling this device, but also for your personal support. You are the kind of person that puts the "person" back in "personal service" and I'm glad to have discovered you.

With best regards,

-Tod

Deborah,

How has the product been working for you. \

Sam, Excellent- I used the smoker I bought from you 4 yrs ago and the apple chips for the jalepenos. I just canned the chipotles in adobo last weekend Deb

 Sam,

Just received the smoker. All I can say is WOW!!!! I've tried those little boxes with no results. I used your smoker the first time to smoke some chicken breasts and the smoke produced was unbelievable. Finally got the smoke flavor. Thanks so much for this wonderful product. I can't wait to experiment with the different wood chips.

 Sam,

My family is a big steak fan.  Chicken and pork would be great too.  I am the only one who eats fish.  Although after smoking it there may be more fish fans in my household. I just want to tell you that it must of been my lucky day when I stumbled into your website . I cant't be any happier than I am with the results of your smoker. I just want to say that it works great ,it's easy to clean  and most importantly the food tastes great.

Sam,

I bought one of your spatulas at the Zesty Foods show in Ft. Worth a few years ago.  Its an indespensible tool.  I want to buy one for my brother-in-law.  Do you have plans to produce more of these?  I can't find anything similar on the Internet.

Greg Adams

 Sam,

We received the spatula a week or two ago.To be honest, when we came home from the Zestfest where we bought my spatula, I initially loooked at it and wondered what I had been thinking when I had bought something so ridiculously large that it would only have limited uses at best.  However, I gave the spatula a fair chance and it won me over very quickly.  I love being able to use a single spatula to flip large pieces of meat, especially those that need TLC.  The spatula enables me to flip large salmon filets without damaging the filet.  My wife likes her fish well-done and the spatula enables me to cook it the way she likes it.  The spatula enables me to turn over beef briskets with relative ease as well.  Its also great for when I'm cooking huge quantities of burgers. The spatula that I ordered this time, I ordered for my brother-in-law.  He was helping me grill 20 lbs. of ribs, incidentally using your smoker box, and the spatula's usefulness became readily apparent to him.  There is no similar grill tool on the Internet.  Your spatula is made of heavy-duty steel and has the biggest surface I have seen anywhere.  It is an indispensible tool when I barbeque.

 Greg Adams

 Sam:

I recently purchased your Smoker Pro and have been amazed at the results.  It really produces a tremendous amount of smoke and has added great flavor to my grilled foods.  One question, any suggestions for making the smoke last longer?  I am getting between 30- 40 minutes of good smoke on 3 cups of wood chips soaked for approximately 10-15 minutes.  I’m thinking of trying some larger chunks of wood to see if that will prolong the smoke.  For steaks, chicken, burgers etc… 30 minutes is more than enough smoke time but I am going to be doing some ribs, brisket, pork shoulder etc.. and I don’t want to have to open the grill every 30 minutes or so to add chips and thereby loose my temperature.  The chunks of wood to which I refer are probably 2-3 inches long and 1 inch or so thick.  I planned to soak these for 1-2 hours then try them out perhaps with some chips in the Smoker Pro first with the larger chunks placed on top of the chips.  Do you think these larger chunks of wood will smoke in the Smoker Pro and prolong the smoking time?  Thanks for making such a great product.  The Smoker Pro puts my past tin foil and various cheap smoker boxes to shame.

 Cory R. Locke

P.S. Any cookbooks you would recommend for a beginner using the smoker?

Yes Mine “Grill On Smoker it coming out soon 8-1-10

 Sam,

Received the smoker used it once and the results were great on burgers.

Looking forward to more advanced meals. Cooking on a weber grill that gets hot very fast. Noticed that your cooking times for fish and shrimp are much longer than I have used. Is this do to a lower temperature ? Shrimp conventionally would cook in 3 minutes on this grill. Thanks for all your help. My son already is thanking you for the difference in cooking.

Steve Hirsch

 Sam,

Thanks for the super fast shipping!  I got my smoker and wood chips today (this morning or late last night?).  In any case, it was a short day at work today, so I stopped at the meat market and got a nice short rack of baby backs for the wife and me. WOW!  Although it was my first time, they came out REALLY well and the neighbors were jealous from the smell of the smoke that they got blown their way for 2 hours. I do have a couple questions though.  I've got a two zone ducane natural gas grill (not propane) and even with the other zone off and the zone under the smoker at it's lowest setting, my grill still sits at 300 degrees (as measured above the meat)  (just FYI with both burners going I get up around 850+ degrees, GREAT for cooking pizza -- which my wife is excited to make with the smoker for that 'wood oven flavor').  My only concern is that for long cooks (like a roast or something) that this will cause some charring before the meat's finished cooking (in fact, the ribs tonight had a bit more bark than I tend to like, but I think part of that was putting the meat on a bit too quickly (the grill was still a bit hot). Should I put the meat on the other side of the grill?  There's plenty of smoke on the other side, it's just that the smoke doesn't come right up through the meat that way...

Also, when I replace the wood chips after about an hour, I turned the grill up in order to get them smoking (which they did quickly) and then I turned the heat back down to low after the smoke was back.  Is this necessary?  The temperature in the grill didn't go up much, but I just want to make sure I'm doing it the right way...

Thanks again! Sean

Yes,  Sean you are doing it right. Once you start getting smoked by the smoker pro turn down your grill to medium heat. Coking your meat over the smoker on the grate then searing it on the other side will produce the best steak in your neighborhood. Sam

Hello Sam,

I just tried the smoker for the first time. It worked great, just as good as most professional

units. I did a boston butt in a cheap-o-grill. It fit perfectly (although I cut my grate in half to make adding wood

easier)and was able to maintain 250f on low heat. I just wanted to thank you for a great product.

 Dear Sam,

I have used your Smoker Pro for a number of years now--I have 2. I do not grill without it--it is a permanent accessory in my Weber gas grill. I find it very useful with chunks. For the 1st time last weekend I used it in my Weber charcoal grill with 3 chunks of nectarine wood for a pork roast. The result was incredible.

 Sam,

I've had a Scrappy for a while now--love it...best tool I have for moving my grill grate, cleaning the grill and opening a beer. It's built very well and the handle is very sturdy...fits your hand well.  I like it so much that I wanted another to give to a friend.

 Thanks Tim

  Hi Sam

"I own a 3-burner Vermont Castings gas grill, and I am in love with my Smoker Pro - so much so that I have bought one for other members of my family. It really holds the heat well, keeps burning for up to 4 hours and has saved me the expense of buying a separate hot smoker. And when the neighbors smell the brisket I'm smoking, the line forms outside my front door!

 Thanks, Sam!

 Sam,

Based on a review of "cool" products that appeared last spring in Bon Appetite magazine. I ordered your smoker for my husband for Father's Day. (It had gotten a great review in the magazine.) He loved it! In fact, it's his new
favorite grilling tool. Now John looks for any excuse to grill now so he can use the smoker!

Dear Folks at Sam's,
I just purchased your "Smoker Pro" for my gas grill. Just wanted to drop you folks a note and let you know this is the finest smoker I ever used!! I have been grilling outside for over 30 years...tried everything from the cast iron models to the aluminum foil "home made" type...but now THIS is a smoker first class!!! The smoke flavor is really driven into the meats and the constant steady stream of solid smoke is a breeze to work with...this is the best smoker I have ever used...bar none!!! I can see why it is award winning!! I give it "Blue Ribbon" and "Best of Show"!!! Fits my grill like a glove...perfect!!

Sincerely,
G. White

As a newcomer to smoking I'm glad I did the research and waited for what I
believe as well as my dinner quest's is the best Smoker on the market for
your existing grill. It's easy to use, less work than those stand along
electric or large wood burning units and, clean up is a breeze, Every item
I've cooked from fish to pork comes out tasting better and more flavorful
than simple grilling alone. I'd recommend it to anyone novice or expert...
The Smoker Pro is simply the BEST!"

Sam,
Just wanted to drop you a note that yesterday our 1st weekend back from Florida I used your smoker with the apple & pecan wood chips. I was so excited to try out the smoker. Well I can say that I got an A+ on cooking up the hamburgers. Everyone loved the taste of the burgers. The only thing that I regret is that I did not buy a smoker earlier.

Take Care,
Tom Kingsberg

Sam,
I purchased the Smoker, tools and wood chips at the 2003 County fair in Washington County and have been using the smoker continuously. It has provided the fine smoked aroma of apple, cherry and hickory to many wonderful dinners. I would like to add that the quality of the product has withstood the test of time, as it is in as good a shape now as it was when I bought it.No falling apart or rusting away because of cheap metal or poor workmanship
It works quickly and burns chips completely. I leave it in my gas grill continually as it does not affect the use of the grill in any way. The tools handle the toughest grilling situation and are a pleasure to use.
If you want a long lasting product that performs to the highest expectations - this is the Smoker to use and a few of the tools will even make the task better. I look forward to many more great smoked meals and trying out the plum chips.

Satisfied customer;
Blake Seitz, Hartford, Wisconsin.

Sam,
I love it. This is the second one I bought for myself. Over the past few years I bought two more for my friends. Grilling is just so much better with the Sam's Smoker Pro. I thought I would miss my grill when I switched to gas but with the smoker everything I cook is great. I've tried 5 or 6 different woods and they add a lot of variety. Thanks again, this is a great product that lives up to what is advertised.

Sam- The Smoker Pro is a revolutionary grilling accessory that has helped me reach new levels in BBQ that I have never thought I could reach with my standard gas grill. This device has performed flawlessly and the build quality is superb. Here in Tokyo there are a group of Americans that consider themselves serious when it comes to ribs and they have a 'rib-off' once a year with voting and prizes. How did I do my first time out? Took first place! Went up against a guy who used a real smoker too! I can't say how pleased I am with this product and the customer service as well. Sam is a stand-up guy and has gone out of his way to send everything all the way to Japan. I just ordered 4 for my friends for Christmas too, and Sam zipped them out via airmail. Sam, many thanks to you again!

If you have a gas grill, you have to get a "Sams Smoker Pro". It will take your food to another level. I've tried everything from foil packets to chips in a cast iron skillet to get smoke, all with no success until I got the Smoker Pro. It turned my Weber gasser into a slow smoker. Steaks are out of this world delicious. Pork Loin came out awesome after 1 1/2 hr. smoked with apple and hickory. I have a Traeger Pellet Smoker and I'm finding that I use my Weber with the Smoker Pro insert more than my Traeger. Thanks Sam for a wonderful product.

Sam,
Over the years I've tried numerous ways to generate smoke using wood chips on my gas grill, but Sam's Smoker Pro™ puts them all to shame. It produces clouds of flavorful smoke that comes the closest I've seen to using a charcoal BBQ. I'd recommend Sam's Smoker Pro™ to anyone who wants to get that true smoked flavor conveniently on their gas grill.

Hey There ,
I saw your fabulous accessory on the HGTV grill & patio special, and I'm wanting to buy one for every griller in my family (which is a big number!) I love that it's also super cute, functional, and so multi-functional, the best I love in accessories for my home and for gifts. The design is fabulous and reminds me of Alessi (beautiful and whimsical design) product. Great grill scraper, bottle opener, super cute accessory Thank you and congratulations on a beautiful product!

unbelievable. I invited by brother and his wife over and we used 1st-BBQ-Smokers BBQ Smoker to grill a whole chicken to perfection. SAM Smoker PRO and his recipes are exceptional."

The Philly steak sandwich you wood grilled me was awesome. Better than any I have ever had. The wood grilled Pizza Also very good and definitely worth the money. Your burgers are the very tasteful filled with juicy flavor right off your wood grill. The French Dip Sandwich is my favorite, the Au’jus sauce is better than any where I have eaten.
Sam, the wood fired pizza that you cooked for me was absolutely awesome. I have never thought a pizza
could turn out so flavorful cooked on the grill in my opinion your pizza is the best pizza in the city.

Do you think these larger chunks of wood will smoke in the Smoker Pro and prolong the smoking time? Thanks for making such a great product. The Smoker Pro puts my past tin foil and various cheap smoker boxes to shame.

Sam,
Received the smoker used it once and the results were great on burgers.Looking forward to more advanced meals. Cooking on a weber grill that gets hot very fast. Noticed that your cooking times for fish and shrimp are much longer than Ihave used. Is this do to a lower temperature ? Shrimp conventionally would cook in 3 minutes on this grill. Thanks for all your help. My son already is thanking you for the difference in cooking.

Sam,
Merry Christmas!

Hello Sam,
I just tried the smoker for the first time.
It worked great, just as good as most professional units. I did a boston butt in a cheap-o-grill. It fit perfectly
(although I cut my grate in half to make adding wood easier)and was able to maintain 250f on low heat.
I just wanted to thank you for a great product.

Sam,
I've had a Scrappy for a while now--love it...best tool I have for moving my grill grate, cleaning the grill and opening a beer. It's built very well and the handle is very sturdy...fits your hand well. I like it so much that I wanted another to give to a friend.

Hi Sam,
"I own a 3-burner Vermont Castings gas grill, and I am in love with my Smoker Pro - so much so that I have bought one for other members of my family. It really holds the heat well, keeps burning for up to 4 hours and has saved me the expense of buying a separate hot smoker. And when the neighbors smell the brisket I'm smoking, the line forms outside my front door! Thanks, Sam!
